Membership

Membership of TFHS Inc. is open to all interested in genealogy and family or social history, whether resident in Tasmania or not. Assistance is given to help trace overseas as well as Tasmanian and Australian ancestry.  Our financial year runs from 1 April to 31 March, with dues payable each year by 1 April.

Current subscriptions (in Australian dollars):

Membership Application

Application for membership is made by completing the following on-line form, followed by secure online payment by debit or credit card. If either option presents difficulties then prospective members are advised to contact their local branch or to email the membership registrar to discuss alternatives.

Donations:
Donations to the Library Fund ($2.00 and over) are tax deductible.  Gifts of family records, maps, photographs, etc. are most welcome.

Membership Entitlements:

All members receive copies of our society's journal, Tasmanian Ancestry, published quarterly in June, September, December and March. 

Members are entitled to free access to all our society's libraries.  Members also have free access to Ancestry.com at our Library.  Access to libraries of some other societies has been arranged on a reciprocal basis. Once membership processing is complete, members can register and access the members-only web-site which hosts a growing range of resources, including:

TAMIOT (Tombstone and Memorial Inscriptions of Tasmania)

Access to a members-only, searchable online database with access to some additional information not included in the public version.

  Legislative provision was made for the registration, upon request, of the death of persons dying outside the State of Tasmania whilst engaged on war service. This Index includes some 2737 persons who died in service both abroad and in Tasmania.
